Katsu House ya es internacional -

私のリストにある、"that's the way this is"を書いている、Fiona さんです。

Hola Katsu:

¡Saludos!

Thanks for giving me an advice about 'hermana'...sorry my study tool for Spanish is only 2=100yen travel guide + easy conversation guide in Spanish. Sorry for my mistakes, you Spanish guys!!

Shina-san: Thank you for your comments, I really appreciate them very much. I had written a long answer in Japanese, but I accidentally deleted all of it and I don't want to rewrite it again... so let me explain in English.

I didn't know that my "Japanese" surname, written as it is (河曲) is actually quite unusual. What a surprise! However, that's not a problem for me, actually.

My Japanese identity, (which I only use in the Internet, not in real life) was initially a suggestion from a Tokyo student who spent some months in Madrid, with whom I had Spanish-Japanese conversation exchange (that's been my only chance to speak Japanese with a native speaker so far). I once asked him if he knew a Japanese name and surname which looked similar in meaning to my actual Spanish name and surname, and his suggestion was 川野勝人. Written this way, Kawano 川野 is much more usual in Japan, isn't it? Well, I liked that name very much! And three years ago, when I started to take part in several Internet forums about Japan and Japanese culture, I decided to use it as my nickname.

Last year, an acquaintance of mine, who is married to a Japanese woman, has lived in Japan for several years and has even written a Kanji dictionary recently, suggested me the alternative writing 河曲, because it is much closer in meaning to my real Spanish surname. I liked it so much, I finally decided to adopt it as my definitive nickname as it can be read now, not only because of that similarity in meaning, but also because I was quite attracted by its visual representation of a river 河 drawing meanders and curves (曲) on its way towards the sea.

And don't worry about your Spanish! I'm sure you'll improve quickly. From now on, I'll sometimes write comments in (easy) Spanish in your blog, to help you with it.

Regards,

Hola Katsu,

Sorry now I'm too busy working + organizing upcoming lessons & projects in honest, I have no time to spend much for learning Spanish right now...Basically I'm a J⇔E translator, trying to get the publishing so far + teacher for my students who want me to study Englisn & Japanese, in their non-native tongue...sorry for my awkwardness in your tongue, I've never ever got friend or learned it seriously - and hey, you're an English teacher, right?!
So, let's brush our English + Japanese up, using this e-learning space...get it, Katsu???
Hah, I'm a bit tired with Spanish attacks now.....gimme a break >_< !

Kawano Katsuhito dijo...

Shina-san:

I've found your first paragraph rather surprising. Don't worry, nobody's attacking you because of your level of Spanish. Not me, at least. If you are referring to the "hermana" correction in your blog, I just intended to help you, I couldn't imagine you would feel offended... Anyway, I must say that it was quite an unimportant mistake, and if you want to continue using your "hermana japonesa" signature, feel free to do so! It is still a bit odd to Spanish ears, but to me it sounds familiar and friendly. Actually, when referring to a very close friend, we Spaniards often say that 'she (he) is like a sister (brother) to me'!

In your previous comment, you told me I make mistakes when I write in Japanese. Well, I didn't feel bad or offended by that remark, because I know that it IS true. And it doesn't worry me, because I can also learn a lot from my own mistakes. Being a teacher, you probably know that errors and mistakes are an important element in the learning process. Through our errors we can reinforce our learning. I can tell it from my own experience with English and Japanese. I particularly get to learn a word much better and faster if I have previously made a mistake with it and I have to correct it, or I get it corrected by someone.

Let me insist, don't worry about this, and don't take our comments and corrections, if any, as a personal offence. If you are interested in the Spanish language, now there are many Spanish-speaking people who read your blog and will help you with your learning whenever you need it. And I'm sure you'll get to master Spanish when you start studying seriously (believe me, phrasebooks can be very useful in certain situations, but they are not a good learning tool). As for me, I'll comment in English and Japanese in your blog, and in Spanish when you ask me to do so.

Probably my comments in Japanese will be rather poor and I'll make many mistakes. If you want to correct me, don't hesitate! I'll always appreciate your feedback, comments and corrections, and will take your advice always in mind. This is the point in exchanging language learning, experiences and impressions - to learn from each other.

By the way, why don't we exchange e-mail correspondence? My e-mail is vic1973(at)wanadoo.es . Feel free to write to me in English and/or Japanese, and even in Spanish if you want!

Katsu,

Well, thanks a lot for heartful and enegetic comments to me.
I really glad to find some Spanish connection through this blog-net.
And I never meant that "Your friend are offensive" actually. I know they're just exhilarating to meet their Japanese teacher by this cyber world, without moving to here in Japan. And I must say, I've never lived in English-speaking countries so far - my learning sources are mostly books, films, music & foreigners I've ever met in my actual life + Internet. They taught me a lot more than that of famous English schools, I swear. What they speak were live words can make myself understood in non-native languages.
In my links, there are also some students want me to study together by exchanging emails or posting comments to our blogs each other, though their nationalities are all different, though. Relieved to read your good advice in English.
Sure I wanna learn Spanish some day, but now I'm REARRY busy I gotta say: I have few unplanned classes for privete adults lesson + daily lesson to kids on every Thursdays & Fridays + now in 3 voluntary actitity (supporting staff to play with kids on Saturdays + Chorus on weekends + coming Niigata's International Event, and I'm a teamleader somehow)...plus I have a BIG oppotunity right now - My British friend in Tokyo asked me to translate her cookbook from E to J, + if everything's go well so far I'll be able to publish my 1st professional translated work this year, hopefully maybe. The one is Joolie in my links, she's from Cornwall UK & trying to publish books + open her own sweets shop in Tokyo. Also, we met accidentary as a mailmagazine publisher(J) & subscriber(Me), anyway. But now we already knew well each other I think, seems quite like-minded to her. So, I'll off to Tokyo soon, to meet her to talk 'bout the publishing & really wanna meet my ex-classmates live in the vicinity of Tokyo area. If possible, also wanna meet foreign students who I used to teach Japanese as a volunteer teacher from 2002-2003.
I have one good Chinese friend, and she also taught me some of her mother-tongue.
Now, I hope this comment can be fulfill you & your friends.
Thanks for long E-advice to me.
If the work settled somehow, I gotta buy nice Spanish Dictionary...to teach Japanese to Spanish students.....yeah.
